Rules and governance

Terang Awards is co-founded by Bali News, Fullers Properties and ArkaCara. The Secretariat administers the programme. PT Aspire Consulting Services is the official event organizer partner.

No co-founder can enter. Bali News, Fullers Properties and ArkaCara are ineligible in every category. Bali News and Fullers Properties hold no vote; ArkaCara's founder, Adhiguna, sits on the independent panel.

There is no fee to nominate, no fee to be judged and no fee to win, in any category, in any year.

Judges make every decision: Nominee confirmation, compliance, finalists and winners. Judges serve without fee.

A judge's own organisation may be nominated. When it is, that judge sees no scores, takes no part in the discussion and casts no vote in that category, including any tie break. Every published result names the judges who recused. If a judge's organisation is a finalist or wins, the record says so in plain words next to the result.

A nominee may be entered in up to three categories where it meets each category's eligibility requirements.

No sponsorship exceeds IDR 200 million. No partner tier carries any role in nomination, judging or outcomes. Sponsorship supports the event, never the outcome.

Any paid product offered to nominees, finalists or winners is optional, open to any supplier, and offered only after scores are sealed. The panel never sees who bought what.

AI assists the scoring. Judges make every decision. AI checks that each submission is complete and readable, and a judge confirms every Nominee. After reviews close, AI scores each submission on Track Record and Reliability, Transparency and Disclosure, and Reviews, using only what was submitted and citing the document behind every score. That score sets a private shortlist. Judges check compliance by hand, score the shortlist before they see the AI score, and choose the finalists and the winners. AI never rejects a document or a nominee on its own, and any nominee can appeal a decision to a judge.

A nominee is disqualified only on a final criminal conviction related to the matter, whatever the score. An accusation, an open case or an unresolved dispute alone does not disqualify. Terang Awards may publicly revoke a title in a later year on the same standard, if a conviction follows after the award is given.

Two percent of profit is donated to a Bali community cause each year. The amount and the recipient are published after each gala.

The tie break procedure is being confirmed by the panel and will be published here before judging begins.
